The Symphony Services Music Library (SSML) is one of the largest collections of print music in the southern hemisphere. With over 460,000 items, the collection houses an extensive and expanding range of repertoire.
While orchestral music represents the principal focus of the SSML, the collection has also evolved to include opera, vocal and choral material. The SSML has been a well-utilised and significant resource for orchestras, choirs, and other music organisations since the 1980s.

With a history dating back to the 1920s, the Australian Broadcasting Commission, and later Symphony Australia, played an important role in Australian musical life by commissioning new Australian compositions for performance and broadcast. This commissioning tradition continues to the present day through the work of Symphony Services International.
The Music Library acquired many of the resulting musical scores and performance parts and remains a significant resource for Australian music. Since 2000 many of these original manuscripts, known as the Symphony Australia Collection, have been transferred to the National Library of Australia in Canberra for preservation. The collection includes the works of over 78 Australian composers and arrangers as well as scores owned and annotated by significant conductors and musicians.
