Australian Singing Competition

Symphony Services International is pleased to be associated with the Australian Singing Competition, one of the country’s most prestigious competitions for singers. The Symphony Australia Young Vocalist Award comprises a cash prize and performance opportunity with one of Australia’s major symphony orchestras.

Symphony Australia Young Vocalist Award 2009

The 2009 winner of the Symphony Australia Young Vocalist Award and the Marianne Mathy Scholarship is WAAPA-trained baritone, Sam Roberts-Smith from Western Australia.

Since being established in 1982, the Australian Singing Competition has nurtured the successful operatic careers of some of Australia’s most loved singers including Jeffrey Black, Deborah Riedel, Clare Gormley, Rachelle Durkin, Fiona Janes, Paul Whelan and Amelia Farrugia.

The 2010 Finals Concert of the Australian Singing Competition will be held on Friday 15 October at the Sydney Opera House with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, conducted by Giovanni Reggioli (courtesy Opera Australia).
